Greetings Gabriola Community Hall members and supporters!
Spring has sprung and we are excited to see the berm behind the Lund pavilion showing some wonderful cacti, sword ferns and other interesting plants doing well in their newly planted location. Many thanks to those who donated plants and shrubs… and to those board members who carefully and meticulously sited them on and beside the berm. Our vision is becoming a reality! And speaking of vision: we are gearing up for our spring/summer events, starting in May with Spring Fling, coming May 9th. Last year we had a May day event which was well received, and included fun, interactive events such as Maypole dancing, a folk dance lesson, flower head wreath making and a Growls puppet show.

Now, mark your calendars…
SPRING FLING
Saturday May 9th from 1 to 4 pm
A fundraising event for your Community Hall
1pm to 2 pm: Maypole dancing on the lawn AND a folk dance lesson, led by Don Buskirk.
2pm to 4pm: SPECIAL EVENT — Live music performed in the Lund Gathering Place featuring Seasoned Sinners (see photo below).
Dancing on the grass in front of the pavilion will be encouraged… their music is so easy to dance to!! You are invited to bring your own picnic lunch (and lawn chair). On site will also be the very popular Shea can Bake yummy donuts, as well as homemade sandwiches and treats.
~ Please Bring Cash ~
A team of creative ladies will be on hand to help you make your flower head wreaths (very popular last year).

Seasoned Sinners Blues Band is a Nanaimo based harp, guitar and sax driven group playing an eclectic mix of danceable blues classics and originals.
As always, we need volunteers, and this year we will be without our long time Salmon BBQ organizer, Julie Stewart, who for many years, has been the driving force behind our long standing event. We urge one of you to be our new BBQ coordinator. Julie will be available to give you all pertinent info and guidance before the event. But YOU will be the mastermind behind the actual day of the BBQ. Our dedicated and hard-working board members will be very much hands-on, taking care of myriad details on the day of. So there will be lots of support!
If you’ve been thinking about volunteering for “some event” on Gabriola, please choose this one… our major fundraiser for the year. Your community hall is the true heartbeat of Gabriola, and we need your help!
